http://www.gibix.net/projects/nspluginwrapper/
I just discovered this program in portage.
I wonder if anyone has ever tried it. It's a wrapper to load 32bit
plugins into 64bit browsers.
This would be cool. Actually I have both firefox and firefox-bin installed :(

I will try this asap :)

If anyone is interested, IT WORKS!
Searching a bit in the forum makes me believe it's not the state of
the art, as for stability, but I've tried it now and I can see
video.google.com videos!

That's worth knowing about. I currently have firefox-bin for plugins and
firefox for packages that need the source package. This will enable to
get rid of one.

There's also an ebuild to load 32 bit plugins into a 64 bit Konqueror -

I've installed today. It runned the Flash Plugin (version 9 beta) too
slow (I've tried
one site only). It also doesn't runned the Java plugin by Sun. I need
the 32 bits of the plugin
because I can't access my Home Banking with the Blackdown version of
the plugin (in
64 bits).

So, at this moment, this is a good promise, but I will continue using
firefox-bin.

I'm having problems with sun java too

felipe@mustang ~ $ nspluginwrapper -i
/opt/emul-linux-x86-java-1.5.0.08/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
nspluginwrapper:
/opt/emul-linux-x86-java-1.5.0.08/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
is not a valid NS4 plugin for i386

News from the front. I perceived that the Flash 9 was slow. In
Firefox-bin, It was ok with
one tab with video, but its performance turned bad as I open more tabs
with flash media.

I've installed Firefox 2, and switched to Flash 7 (I don't need Flash
9 at all at this
moment). And Flash 7 runned great with nspluginwrapper. I continue with problems
with Java plugin. But how I use this plugin one or two times a week, I can use
compiled Firefox now as my default.
