Hi all,
My current kde is: 3.5 (rc1)
About 2 days ago, after i did an emerge sync, i did "emerge --update world
-pv" which gave me:
[ebuild U ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.0 [3.5.0_rc1] -acl +alsa +arts +cups
-debug -doc -jpeg2k -kdeenablefinal -kerberos -openexr +spell +ssl +tiff
+xinerama -zeroconf 15,020 kB
---- <snip -- many other kde packages follow>
However, when I did the actual emerge, i get many:
No such file `kdelibs-3.5.0.tar.bz2'.
... and then aborts
My mirrors are:
GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/Gentoo
http://mirror.isp.net.au/pub/gentoo/ ftp://mirror.isp.net.au/pub/gentoo/
ftp://ftp.swin.edu.au/gentoo http://ftp.swin.edu.au/gentoo"
Does it normally take so long for the mirrors to sync? or am i doing something
strange here?
By the way, my /etc/portage/package.unmask includes:
>=kde-base/kdelibs-3.5_beta1
---- <snip -- plus all the other kde packages>
Thanks
Tony

kde-3.5.0 hasn't actually been release yet, it has mearly been tagged in KDEs
SVN repository.
The ebuilds are a bit early.

:) Thanks...
Is there a way to tell emerge not to check this so it doesn't stop the rest of
"emerge world"?

you could do an emerge --resume --skipfirst

Already tried that one... it just aborts on the next kde 3.5.0 package it
can't find... there's about 60 or so it wants to update.

you could list these packages in /etc/portage/package.mask

:) That fix works except that i had to change all the relevent kde-base lines
in my /etc/portage/packages.unmask from the form:
>=kde-base/<whatever>-3.5_rc1
to:
=kde-base/<whatever>-3.5_rc1
Then I realised that i could do without the /etc/portage/package.mask that you
suggested anyway.
Thank you for pointing the way.
BTW, I am a gentoo (amd64) newbie for about 6 weeks and IMHO gentoo is the
best desktop distro I have ever played with... except for the usual gripes
many ppl have about various minor 32bit compatability issues.
