Hi there

This might be just something stupid I'm missing but here it goes:
after installing "another" OS these days I needed the usual trick to
boot my gentoo hdd partition from a gentoo x86_64 cd kernel and run
grub-install (the "other" OS overwrittes the MBR at installation).

As usual I try to boot a mini x86_64 gentoo installcd like:
gentoo-nofb root=/dev/hda2 noinitrd

This works well with 2005.0 (and the older images I have tried, even
when I was running x86) but does not with 2005.1. It seems to ignore
"noinitrd" parameter and still load it and continue the normal cd
booting sequence instead of mounting my hdd partition as root after the
kernel boot :(

Any hints ?

Thanks!

Even then, you can still mount /dev/hda2, then chroot into it, and
finish your grub installation, can't you? :)

That's what I thought too, but for an unrelated to this mail thread
reason after "mount, chroot, grub-install /dev/hda" grub-install gives
some strange error. Anyways, this grub error is unrelated and I wouldnt
want to pollute the thread with this. So can someone say why "noinitrd"
doesn't seem to work anymore starting with 2005.1 ?

Thanks!
