Hi there everybody,
I've been working with grace-5.1.18 for quite some time know on an
AMD64 gentoo. This pavkage is masked with the ~amd64 keyword.
It is my understanding that we guys using this program are supposed to
report back if everything is working fine.
Well here I am: It works great!
I have extensively checked the piping interface as well and that works.
So if there is anybody out there that agrees/disagrees let us be heard!
If I am supposed to file a report about this please somebody instruct me
where and how.
Thanks guys :-)
George

FYI - your best bet in these cases is to file a bug under ebuilds as
severity enhancement and assign it to the amd64 team. It wouldn't hurt
to put in your emerge info details, and mention the package and version
that you think works fine.
An AT or dev will check it out and if it meets the criteria for being
made stable it will get taken care of - generally fairly quickly.
Grace sounds like one of the more obscure packages out there, so we're
always happy to hear from somebody who uses it extensively. While we
try to test stuff out before keywording stable, there is no substitute
for somebody trying it out who uses it extensively.

I use grace quite a lot myself for work, and have a few papers with grace
plots in them too, as well as several conference papers ;) Usually to
stabilise you should file a bug, and the maintainer must OK stabilisation. I
had a quick word with the maintainer and am also a member of the sci herd.
grace-5.1.18 is now stable, but in future please use bugzilla to request
package stabilisation.
Thanks,
Marcus
