I am trying to change my profile to the new 2005.0 as per:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/howtos/index.xml?part=1&chap=1
I am using the no-multilib instructions, and it still fails:
# ln -s /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2005.0/no-multilib
/etc/make.profile
# emerge -uv system
Calculating system dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 5) dev-lang/python-2.3.5-r2 to /
* It appears you have switched to the 2005.0 profile without following
* the upgrade guide. Please see the following URL for more information:
* http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/2005.0-upgrade-amd64.xml
Any ideas?

That error message comes
from /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/amd64/2005.0/profile.bashrc.
Are you sure that you adjusted the symbolic links as outlined in the
instructions? If /lib32 or /usr/lib32 are not links you will get that
message.
