The brltty ebuild is in portage now, you should be able to 'emerge sync' then 'emerge -s brltty' Because this is a new package, it is currently most likely masked. either way, give it a test, and let me know if you have any problems. since you have used brltty before, you probably know what to look for in terms of problems.
