Hiya,
I posted this some time ago, and didn't hear any response, so am asking again out of curiocity for the most part.
I have a BrailleNote which is able to be used as a Braille display with BRLTTY. I also have software speech, which unfortunately only kicks in after a lot of kernel-related stuff has scrolled by, and after FSCK has run and hopefully passed the filesystem as clean. However, in the event this doesn't happen for some reason, I was wondering if it'd be possible to create a startup script to be installed as part of the BRLTTY ebuild? This is something recommended by the Brltty documentation, so I felt it would be logical to follow that recommendation.
As a side note, my display would be connected to ttyUSB0, because I don't have a physical serial port on this machine.
Thanks much in advance,
Zack.

All,

as of now, brltty 3.7.2-r1 is in portage and installs a startup script.
The ebuild was committed last night, but I found a typo in it today that
did not allow the startup script to be installed.

As of this email this is fixed, so wait about an hour then emerge --sync
and emerge brltty to get the latest fix.

You will also need to unmask app-accessibility/brltty to get be able to
emerge it.

Let me know if there are any more issues.

Thanks,

Hi,
I am interested in using BRLTTY. However, I'm somewhat more used to the Debian model of doing things--with an init script provided to start it automatically, for instance. I don't believe there is such a script provided in the Gentoo package.
Also, I'm not entirely sure which configuration files I need to create/edit.
Any advice on how to get this properly configured and working would be appreciated. (I've just emerged the package itself.)
Thanks,
Zack.

Hi guys,

I just moved brltty from testing to stable last night.I would appreciate
as much feedback as possible on the ebuild.

This also means that we might be able to bribe beejay into including
brltty in a livecd at some point. The problem I see with that thought
currently is that we only have one person to test the gentoo brltty
ebuild. If there are others of you who are interesting in helping with
testing the ebuild, or know friends who are, please let me know. I can't
do this as I don't have a brille display.

Thanks!
Deedra

Hi guys!

I'm looking for volonteers who can test a new brltty ebuild. I'm hoping
that it will end up in portage some time today, but we'll see. Mainly
right now, I'm interested in finding people who can test this, and make
sure it does everything it's supposed to. I don't have the equipment to
test it, so this one is out of my hands.

Anyway, if any you can test it, or know someone who uses gentoo, and wants
to test it I'd appreciate it.
