[gentoo-accessibility] Questions about using install media as a blind user.

Hi all.

I am new to this list and to gentoo in general, but have some questions regarding installing using the media iso.  

First, do theISOS enclude the accessiblity packages such as espeakup, orca etc.  I have downloaded the live images from the 9th of April.  There are also minimal images but not sure if these will work.  Anyway, The install guide does not mention the accessibility team here all though there is info on the web site which is where I found this list.  I have not seen a message come through here. So hopefully My message will come through.  Any way if there is any info I might have missed someware I will be greatful.  Thanks for the help.  BTW, I think that accessibility should be mentioned in the guide for people who need it.  I will certainly give the live image a try and see what happens.  I will be installing to  a VM.

At the boot prompt: speakup=speakup.soft
needs to be keyed in to bring speakup up talking.  It's been several years
since my last failed gentoo install but I was able to get gentoo speaking
while that failure happened.
You'll learn lots about your hardware when you do this.
What killed me every gentoo install was the kernel building step near the
end of the install.

Jude, When bbooting the image in a vm, typing speakup=speakup.soft doesn't
seem to work.  I don't have bareboons hardware so want to try this in a vm
for now.  Have you tried in a vm?  Anyone elsse on this list tried this.
There doesn't seem to be much info on accessibility.  Thanks.

Here is all of the boot parameters I used in order:
gentoo nodmraid nogpm nofirewire nokeymap ide=nodma doscsi dousb slowusb
speakup.synth=soft

This is directly from my gentoo notes which I preserved.
I could probably leave the ide stuff out since this is now on nvme for the
most part.

Maybe after booting:
speakup speakup.synth=soft
may have some effect but that's unlikely.
I have bare iron here and have had no use for vm.

You don't have to build your own kernel now thanks to dist-kernel
project. There are sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel-bin and
sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel packages in tree.

Hi,  I simply used a external is9o i.e ubuntu aand manage to get an
installed system, but could not get It to boot.  I enabled the grub init
toon but after I restarted I got the beep, but could not get any farther as
after pressing enterI was taken rite back to thre boot menu.  I followed the
wiki to thre letter.
