Hi folks,

we're currently having a longer discussion about udev alternatives
@ devuan (*1) ... maybe some of you guys like to join in here.

one of us is developing an own tool, vdev, which has interesting
features like ACLs based on the callee (it's implemented as an
virtual filesystem). perhaps some of you guys like to have a look
at it.

eudev is a stop gap solution. If you look at the notes, there are two
major changes that I did not include. As these accumulate with the
integration of kdbus, we'll be in some trouble. Probably I would refork
based on a refactorization of their code.

I am currently skeptical of alternatives. I have not seen one really
"win the day".

hmm, sounds like a lot of work ... :(

Do you see any showstopper problems on the currently available
alternatives ?

Maybe you'd like to join our discussion on vdev. It's not stable yet,
will still take some time, but we'd like to do an careful engineering
here, so any input is welcomed.
