out of interest in having portage add menu items (or icons) to your fav
window manager, i discovered the following topic:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=66754&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

this then led me to this mailing list. i've read some of the recent
posts, and have a couple questions.

what where the results of research into this? who was leading it, and
at what stage is it at?

i am very interesting in this particular feature, and am willing to help
out or take leadership (if necessary).

thanks!

chashab
